About Me

Where I started

Debra McLaren is a Potter and Ceramic Artist from Perup WA.

Her new studio is on a semi rural block in Burnside, Margaret River where she sells functional giftware and runs creative and fun workshops for all ages.

Debra started her clay journey in 1997 where she completed 2 certificate courses in Ceramics at South Metropolitan TAFE and bought her first pottery wheel to continue her practice in the family garage.

While raising her 4 children, building a small farm and establishing her Travel and Tourism career she has also attended many classes and workshops learning from several Australian and International ceramic artists.

Debra has traveled all around South East Asia visiting local potteries and she has attended several workshops at Gaya Ceramics in Bali.

She has Learnt different techniques and gained knowledge and inspiration from Australian and visiting International artists at many local and interstate events.

Debra has refined some of her skills in an Advanced wheel throwing class under a successful and well-known WA Ceramic artist at North Metropolitan TAFE.

Exhibitor in the Sliced Earth Exhibition and Nectare Exhibition.

Debra started her series of workshops in 2018 where she encourages you

to use the earthy tactile connection of

artist and medium to relax, create, touch and feel.
